I received an overdue notice for an item I already returned. What should I do?
We're sorry to hear that something went wrong with your return!
First, please contact us as quickly as possible. The sooner we are made aware of the problem, the sooner we can do something about it.
Provide your library card number and the title of the item that you returned. Library staff will mark it as "Claim Returned," which will flag it in our system for us to look for it inside the library in case there was an error in marking it as checked in when it was returned.
Items that are in "Claim Returned" status will not appear on your list of items out. Library staff will search for it within the building for at least 60 days, but sometimes more, to make sure that we have searched for it thoroughly. If it is found within the building, you will not see any late fees for it.
We do recommend that you double-check at home just to cover all bases, but we typically find item such as this very quickly once they have been reported to us.
